  SAFE KIDS York County

SAFE KIDS York County consists of individuals and organizations who are interested in reducing unintentional injury - the number one killer of children ages 14 and under. Affiliated with the National SAFE KIDS Campaign, the York County coalition promotes the prevention of childhood injuries through education, public awareness, networking, and advocacy.

Activities/Resources:

bullet FREE teaching resources for schools, churches, youth groups, agencies
bullet include safety programs such as:
 - Car seat check-up events
 - York County helmet program
bullet The following kits:
 - Riding with Buckle Bear - a lap puppet with tape and script
   to promote car seat safety (for pre-schoolers)
 - Biking with Buckle Bear - a lap puppet with tape and script to promote bike safety
   (for ages 2-6)
 - Safety Squares - a general safety game (for all ages)
 - Grandma's House - a home safety game (for all ages)
 - Splish Splash - an interactive water safety game (for ages 4-10)
 - Wheel Wise - a bike safety game (for all ages)
 - Safe Kids Bike Smart - a kit with teaching lessons, videos, helmet, gelatin brain mold,
   and styrofoam ball for "egg drop" demonstrations (for all ages 5-14)
 - Safe Kids Walk Smart - a kit with teaching activities, video, tic-tac-toe game and
   flashing traffic light (for ages 5-9)
 - Get Into the Game - a game to promote use of safety gear for baseball/softball
   and soccer for all ages)
