Double Creek

Save the date - Saturday, June 2, 2018

As Double Creek celebrates over a decade of success, we are planning for some exciting changes to our venue and routes.  Double Creek 2018 will start at a new location – John Rudy Park in York.   This beautiful park offers us the opportunity to use new routes for both runners, walkers and cyclists.   You will experience routes on the Heritage Rail Trail, inside Rudy Park, and on the scenic roads surrounding the park.

Celebrating this long history as York’s Running, Cycling and Walking Event, we welcome participants of all ages. Register for our half marathon, 5K, Fun Run, or cycle routes. We offer many routes of various length for cyclists.

SAVE THE DATE for 2018. We have some exciting changes to tell you about and hope you will join us! More information will be posted here at a later date. On behalf of the patients who are helped with the funding provided by this event, we want to say ‘Thank You”.

About the Double Creek Event:

Double Creek was established in 2003 to provide support to programs that benefit underinsured families. All money raised will benefit WellSpan’s Prescription for Caring program, which provides medications to uninsured patients, underinsured patients, and those who are insured but are struggling with multiple healthcare issues and life circumstances.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event will be used for the Prescription for Caring program. This past year, 90% of those served had $30,000 or less in household income. This pharmacy program provided more than 15,000 free life-sustaining medications to patients without insurance. Your participation in Double Creek helps these patients stay healthy!

      10, 30, 48, 62 or 100 Mile Bike Tour

Register for Double Creek and come out and enjoy the beautiful roads leading out from John Rudy Park! Bicycle riders will enjoy the scenic and lightly traveled roads with green stretches of farmland, rustic bridges, and country churches. Some routes may also include cycling on the Heritage Rail Trail.

New this year – we have added a 100 mile cycle route. Partnering with the “Cycle the Solstice” event, which will be held on June 24, we have come up with a 100 mile route that uses both the Double Creek and the Solstice route. We encourage you to cycle this route during both events. Sections will be timed, and prizes will be given. There is a discount if you register for both events.

New Bike Route Cue Sheets will be added here in the Spring of 2018 when routes are finalized. If you need more information about the routes before they are posted here, please call the York Health Foundation at 717-812-2075.
