The Book Nook Bonanza 2016 was a huge success. The sale raised over $50,000 for the York Hospital Auxiliary's small grants program. This event brought book lovers from all over the East Coast to the York Ice Arena to browse through over 250,000 books.

The sale celebrates it's 58th year of success, having raised well over half a million dollars in the last ten years. In an era of electronic readers, books continue to sell at record rates each year. MANY thanks to all those who helped make this sale a success. 2,500 shoppers, 150 volunteers, and countless donations make this a tremendous event!

Please see the sponsor list below and patronize those businesses who give back to our community! See you next year at Book Nook 2017!

We feature a collectible area which has old, rare, and unusual books. Books in this area are separately priced.

What type of books do we accept for the sale?

We accept paperbacks and hardbacks that are in good used or new condition. We also accept DVDs, CDs, games and puzzles.

Please note that we no longer accept the following types of books or media materials:

    • No Magazines
    • No VHS or cassette tapes
    • No Textbooks
    • No Outdated Reference Books (an example of this would be outdated computer books or drug guides).
    • No National Geographic or Readers Digest Condensed Books.

Even though we do not take National Geographic, encyclopedias, older reference books or textbooks, we know of another area group that will take them. Please call (717) 880-9402 or (717) 225-4487 for more information.

We get lots of questions about what happens to the books at the end of each year's sale. Any books that are unsold are removed at the end of the sale by a local charity agency and used for other purposes. During the year, we work with the York Rescue Mission, and we recycle at our warehouse every week. We are pleased to work with another area charity to make sure that all materials that cannot be used for the sale are used by another organization to benefit the community.
